Anchorman 2 is offical!

Ladies and gentlemen, can I please have your attention. I’ve just been handed an urgent and horrifying news story. I need all of you, to stop what you’re doing and listen…

Anchorman 2 is a go! About damn time too! It’s something that I’ve been waiting for each day, for that one announcement that Anchorman 2 was in development, there were rumours before, but now it’s official! Will Ferrell announced it himself in character as Ron Burgundy, as well as playing some jazz flute on Conan O’Brien’s late-night talk show in the US. It might not be as good as the original, but I don’t care, and the cast better all return too!

Spielberg confirms Jurassic Park 4

At Comic-Con this year, Steven Spielberg gave the probably the best news of the year when he confirmed that Jurassic Park 4 is happening and that it even has a story. He even expects it be out in the next 2 to 3 years.

“We have a story…A writer is currently working on the treatment for [that story]…and the hope is to see Jurassic Park 4 in the next 2 or 3 years”.

The Amazing Spider-Man Trailer

This is the underwhelming trailer for Sony’s Spider-Man reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. It looks like it’s Spider-Man 1 just with a new cast, once again we will have to sit through the origin of Spider-Man again. Nothing really stood out from this, except maybe the inclusion of his parents at the start. That parkour sequence at the end looked very rough, even the title has a similar font to the older movies. Not very excited for this at all. It’s a pity Spider-Man 3 was so bad that it led to this, because Spider-Man 2 was so good.

The Dark Knight Rises teaser trailer

The big teaser trailer for The Dark Knight Rises that everyone has been waiting for was attached to the final Harry Potter film. The conclusion to Christopher Nolan’s epic Batman trilogy that started with Batman Begins. We get a quick shot of Tom Hardy as Bane, and Commissioner Gordon sure looks like he’s seen better days.

Disney Pixar’s BRAVE teaser trailer

This is the trailer to Disney Pixar’s Brave, which was released before Cars 2 in cinemas. It’s set to be released on June 22nd 2012. Should be good, Pixar never really fails (except for maybe Cars 2).

The official synopsis:

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. In Brave, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida (Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition, destiny and the fiercest of beasts. Merida is a skilled archer and impetuous daughter of King Fergus (Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric old Witch (Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to discover the meaning of true bravery in order to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late.

Steven Spielberg for Jurassic Park 4 and Transformers 4

Steven Spielberg could be directing the next Jurassic Park and Transformers movie.

Apparently, Steven Spielberg and screenwriter Mark Protosevich (who wrote Thor and I Am Legend) have been having meetings to explore a potential fourth film. Jurassic Park 3 came out 10 years ago in 2001 and was pretty bad, so I’m sure they’re going to want to make sure they have something good before they risk another flop.

As for Transformers 4, well Spielberg has been executive producers on all three movies. Both Michael Bay and Shia LaBeouf have said they wouldn’t return for a fourth, and Paramount are not going to let that cash cow die, so that could leave the job for Spielberg. Tyrese Gibson, who has been in all three movies has also said that he would love to see Steven Spielberg take over. So would I, but the quality of explosions would drop dramatically.
